Engagement Photos
It took a while to write this post because so much happened once we returned from AU. We just moved into our new condo that we purchased ah! So now we’re terribly in debt but who isn’t right? That’s what I tell myself when I’m in debt haha
This post will be all about our engagement photos! So excited for this because we love all our engagement photos, they turned out better than we could ever dream, we were blown away. We wanted to do our engagement photos on a beach because its such a peaceful place to be and thought it would be a great backdrop. Since our travels to AU were in August, I figured we could get our photos done there when we’re in full vacation mode and not stressed or worried about other things. We looked online and found the beautiful work of Taylor and love her photos for the lighting, the authenticity, the way they look so natural.
I talked with Taylor and booked her right away! We knew nothing of the area but she was extremely helpful and gave us names of 3-4 different beaches she likes to take photos at and told us to take a look and choose one, we ended up choosing one and she guided us through the entire session. She knew the perfect spots to stop at, where the lighting would be at certain times of the evening and how to capture us. We also had great conversation and learned how cilantro is called coriander in AU and she’s not a huge fan of it!
Rewinding a little bit. The morning of our photo shoot day, I remember thinking to myself that I didn’t want to do anything really different with my makeup and hair. I really like the natural look and looking like my every day self. I straightened my hair a little, even though its already pretty straight. I did my makeup as usual: a little foundation, some eyeliner and mascara. The sunshine from the week of being in Australia had helped tan my skin to give me a little more of a glow than usual. I am usually quite pale, we don’t get too much sunshine annually here in Seattle. We drove up the sunshine coast to Mooloolaba and had coffees, our photos were taken around 4pm and we had the day on the beach prior to photos. My original plan was to get a dress in the US and I did that, I found a great green dress from Reformation but while we were visiting Byron Bay I found another from Auguste that is a pale blue wrap dress. I felt like this was more comfortable than the green dress and much more flowy, and full length, it worked for photos.
It worked out perfectly, the entire day and evening was a blast. We explored Mooloolaba, got photos done, and had the best tacos we’ve ever tasted afterwards at Juan Fifty. If there’s a day we could repeat again and again this would be one of them.
