Grocery Update - Week 2
Already in week 2, ah! Okay, we’re starting to feel the pinch now, not buying a lot of stuff. We still have the mentality of not spending money, and we have been sticking to it. I am proud to say we’ve been sticking to it! This post will give visibility into the things we’ve bought this week and I am literally reading the receipts as I type this out. We don’t have a lot of variety when it comes to the things we’ve bought, as we like to stick to the same things because its easiest but you’ll see there are a few things that life threw up this week that we had to take care of too! So I’ll get started. I got over my cold from last week but Joe caught it from me haha we bought more soup and medicine for him. Here’s the break down:
Pike place de-cafe drip coffees x 2 = $4.73 (Due to our Sunday coffee dates)
Soup x 2 = $6.38
Toilet paper = $5.99
Cold and Flu tea = $7.99
Cheddar cheese x 2 = $14.98
Chicken breast = $14.21
Rice = $4.99
Sriracha = $3.49
Soup again = $2.99
Pico stuff = $16.87 (includes celery, tomatoes, limes, jalapeno, onions etc.)
Total for week 2: $67.61
This challenge is a challenge for two reasons. One, we are eating to fit our macros but that means our meals are the same, so we’ve been eating the same thing for all three meals each day for the past two weeks now. We didn’t change the ingredients this week and this is becoming hard because we don’t have variety and the cravings are going insane at the moment (but I’m also watching cooking shows on Netflix which in hindsight was not the best choice). The other challenge is the price itself, we aren’t spending much at all and we aren’t getting coffees unless it’s Sunday for our date, we aren’t going out with friends, we aren’t doing anything that would cost us money right now. This is another challenge for us! We’re happy about the challenge and we’re feeling the stress from it.
Onto our savings from this whole challenge! We have been wanting to save more money and that was what drove this challenge in the first place. As of today, out of the $25000 that we want to save we have put away $7175.89 giving us a new goal of $17,824.11. We will see if we can get to our goals!
