Engagement Party Day

The weekend finally came!! The weekend of our lovely engagement party, the one where we had all our friends from near (and far) travel up to this lovely little restaurant in the heart of Seattle to celebrate our love together. It just so happened to be absolutely perfect, more perfect than I expected and that is definitely saying something. Especially because I am not good at the planning stuff, as you may have noticed in the other post about engagement party stuff, I like to keep it simple and neat, easy and efficient. Sometimes that just doesn’t work for things like parties but this time we just so happened to pull it off. Yes!

before festivities...

Our engagement party weekend started off with friends from out of town coming in to stay and visit with us on Friday evening. They arrived around 10pm so that was a late night but completely worth staying up for. We went grocery shopping around 9:30 pm (with a car2go which was our first time using that app since ReachNow has just shut down but lovely all the same) and then headed to the airport and got back to our place around 12 midnight. I had maybe around 5 hours of sleep once I woke the next morning but again, worth it, and woke up at 7am to get a head start on the prep. ‘The prep’ being prepping for myself including hair and makeup etc. Our engagement party started at 9:30am at a lovely restaurant called Terra Plata. We had a portion of the rooftop reserved for our party of approx. 16 people give or take. And we were reminded just how many good people we have chosen to surround ourselves with, that is the biggest lesson I learned over this engagement weekend. We arrived to the place early…because well we did. We got there around 9:20am and there was already a party ahead of us, windows were open, sun was shining, and the roof was open. Terra Plata was a great choice, its the second roof top place I’ve ever been to (the first being Frolik) and its bordered by plants, flowers, vegetables etc. Each table has hooks underneath them for things like bags and jackets and the menu was perfect. They even had our names printed into the menus as a nice added touch.

Our entire party was there for a very long time, by the time 11am rolled around we still had maybe some appetizers and drinks on the table but that’s it (Joe was about 4 mimosas in), which tells you a lot about the company we had, everyone got along and were talking so much we barely took a glimpse at the menu. Something I wasn’t expecting but was pleasantly surprised about, isn’t it so great when everyone can get along and talk and be themselves? I absolutely loved seeing our friends mingle and connect. We ended up ordering meals, I had the three egg scramble (menus change constantly though based on the season as this is a farm-to-table restaurant with a rotating menu!) and churros for breakfast, yum! Churros accompanied with home made whipped cream and chocolate sauce ah!

The weekend was a success. Thank you to everyone who was there and brought such great vibes to us. We were overwhelmed with such happiness and love, such support from so many people. We are so honored to have good people in our lives around us who are always there for us and we’re so thankful for each and everyone one of you who took a moment on Sunday morning to come out and celebrate us. Thank you! And to those who read through this entire post, thank you for being here and for being with us through this little website and life. <3
